開催趣旨
東京大学先端科学技術研究センターにおいて、近代初期の日本・中東外交史研究を建築・美術・儀礼から試みる連続セミナー・シリーズ「建築と外交」が開催されます。
このセミナー・シリーズは、日本トルコ外交関係樹立百周年記念の認定事業であり、2024年の日・トルコ外交関係樹立百周年の機会を捉え、セミナー・シンポジウム・インスタレーション等が両国間で複数企画される予定です。
第４回セミナーは、人間文化研究機構 共創先導プロジェクト「外交と日本コレクション」との共催によるものです。プロジェクトのメンバーとしてご参加いただいているジラルデッリ青木美由紀氏（イスタンブル工科大学）のコーディネートによる本セミナーでは、皇室・帝室間の儀礼的な外交の側面に注目し、日本とオスマン帝国及びエジプト藩王国の往来や交流を、皇居・王宮に残された贈答品や、王族による渡航の記録から浮き彫りにします。
ジラルデッリ青木氏のほか、プロジェクトリーダーの日高薫（当館教授）が登壇します。
